Tutorials = Pointless

Skimming galleries, I see quite a few tutorials. Some of them lineart, some coloring, some various other stuff, and they're usually done by some pretty good artists. The problem is that they don't SHOW you how to do anything really. The descriptions often read, "This is how I color my stuff" and they then proceed to just give little screenshots of a piece in its various stages. BUT THEY STILL DON'T SHOW YOU HOW IT'S DONE!! I'm sorry, but if I want to learn how to do something generic like color, lineart, etc, you have to watch someone do the entire thing and be able to ask questions: why'd you do that, what about this, what would you do if you wanted this effect?

The only real tutorials that I've seen accomplish anything are the ones that explain how to do the very smallest things, because steps work in that instance. How to do some photoshop-y effect, how to color eyes, etc. Those are pretty basic and contained. But for goodness sakes, artists, quit doing giant tutorials on how you do lineart and coloring. Fans, quit asking for tutorials on how to do stuff as generic as lineart and coloring, you're just trying to find a cut-and-dry method of doing artwork, but it doesn't work that way! Just sit down and practice and make your own style!

Yeah, I'm an MSUMer. I know some people that know you (Carl Stewart, Travis Lilleberg to name a two) so that might be where you've heard of me, or maybe some other random Joe Shmo.

I'm pretty sure you're the only one I know on Deviantart... I feel lonely! And P.S. you're stuff rocks!! Zombies should always be associated with Christ! (Dani's Easter text was "Happy Zombie Jesus Day!" - it made me giggle.) So yeah, keep up the good work and stuff.
Holy crap, Aaron. You've got some nice work here.
